SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETS.
The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held last evening. Present: Messrs Compton (chairman) Hunt, Nicoll. Johnson. Garratt (secretary) and the headmaster. The headmaster reported that the average attendance for the month was 75.2 out of a roll number of 90. Sickness is the cause of the low average. Quite a number of children ar® still nwav with measles and whooping cough. All th® pupils presented for the proficiency examinations were successful. Tlie committee received word from the Education Board stating that the school has risen from grade 3B to grade 3C. This means that the school will now have an extra teacher on the staff. The secretary was instructed to write to ’The board re extra accommodation’ nt the school. Arrangements are well in hand for the picnic which is to be held in Mr. Ormond's paddock on the 16th inst.
