CHARGES UNDER ARMS ACT

A FULLY-LOADED PISTOL. ACCUSED FINED £2. <Pe. Press Association). Christchurch, Dec. 5. Before the Magistrate, Mr. E. D. Mosley, to-day, Leslie Edgar Schults pleaded not guilty to a charge of carrying a revolver without lawful purpose and guilty to charges of carrying a firearm without a license and failing to register it. The polic* said that a pistol, fully loaded, had been found in the man's hip pocket and a torch in another. His room was searched and another pistol was found as well as a bunch of keys and a mask. Counsel said the defendant had found the large revolver and had been given the other. The Magistrate said it was fortunate that the accused had nothing against him, otherwise be would have been sent to baol. He was convicted on all charges and fined £2, in default 14 days on the first charge and placed on probation for the others.
