Due to an unsatisfactory monsoon and -famine conditions, a grave cholera epidemic in Bengal is reported. Cases for the province total 6000 a week and the cases not reported are probably treble that number. The disease has been traced in many instances to Hindus bathing in tho Ganges. Tho Government is issuing an enormous quantity of free vaccine and sending medical men to affected area. This year is stated to be one of the cycles in which a cholera wave occurs. Last week, in Calcutta, the deaths totalled 106. several cases being Europeans. —(A. and N.Z.)
