£1000 INVOLVED
ALLEGED DEFALCATIONS CUSTOMS OFFICIAL CHARGED Auckland, Dec. 1. Defalcations amounting to £lOOO were alleged in the Police Court today, when an employee in the Customs Department in Auckland was charged with stealing £lO 2s Bd, the property of the Department. Chief Detective Cummings asked for a remand until December 15. The accused, who hifff been arrested the previous day, was married and had two children. He had been suspended from his employment. Detective Cummings said the total amount of £lOOO was involved. The Magistrate, Mr R. W. McKeon remanded the accused as requested, and an application for the suppression of accused’s name was granted. Bail was fixed at £3OO.
