HASTINGS AND NAPIER. The vital statistics for Hastings for November are as follow, tho figures for November, 1926, being shown in parenthesis: Births 36 (33), marriages 9 (12), deaths 8 (7). The vital statistics for Napier are: Births 28 (58), deaths 26 (19), marriages 16 (12). The building activity in Napier for November shows a considerable decrease against that for the same month in 1926. Permits issued numbered only 17, as against 32, while the value ‘of the work totalled £lO,268, as against last year's amount of £15.971 6/-. Five permits were ’ issued for the erection of new dwellings. Revenue collected by the Customs officials at Napier during November shows a fair increase when compared with that collected for November, 1936; the figures for last year are shown in parenthesis: Customs duties £22,169 7/11 (£18,411 19 5). beer duty £1072 5'2 (£863 5 91, miscellaneous £432 9/6 (£292 6 2): totals. £23,674 2/7 (£19,567 10/4). (Per Press Association). _ The vital statistics in Dunedin for November, as compared with those for the same month last year (shown in parenthesis) are as follow:—Births 153 (134), deaths 97 (65), marriages 62 (61). Customs revenue collected at Dunedin during November showed a decrease in comparison with the returns of the corresponding period of last year. The figures, those for last year being in parenthesis, are as,follow: Customs £53,519 17/5 (£68,629 8/6). beer £19,235 11/1 (£27,197 2/1). A slight decrease in Customs revenue collected at the port of Wellington in November is shown when compared with the corresponding month of last year. The figures arc: Net Customs.
