INTOXICATED IN CHARGE OF CAR. Wellington, Nov. 28. Intoxicated while in charge of a motor car in a Wellington street on Saturday night was admitted by Joseph Patrick Hennessey, medical practitioner, aged 47, who appeared before Mr. J, H. Salmon in the Magistrate’s Court this afternoon. Dr. Hennessey’s car collided with a tramcar. The police stated that he had been convicted of a similar offence at Auckland on September 12, 1925, when he was fined £25. Counsel for the defendant said his client had contracted malaria and should not have taken liquor. He was not feeling well and had taken a large dose of quinine and two or three stiff whiskies. Dr. Hennessey was fined *5O and costs, and his license was suspended until April 1, 1930. For being intoxicated while driving a car. Charles Edward Bell, by trade baker, aged 47, was fined £2O.
