HAUMOANA

BEACH IMPROVEMENT SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Haumoana Bench Improvement Society was held in the Public Hall on Monday night, -Mr G. F. Roach presiding The report and balance-sheet were ■ead and adopted. Mr. J. T Blake was elected president of the society and the following were elected a committee for the ensuing year:—Mr. H. K. Thompson (chairman), Mr. T, A. Smith (vicechairman) Mesdames Blake. Reeves, Calnan and Messrs Adamson. (Brighton, Reeves. Gerard. Estaugh Ualnan, McCarthy, Florence, Ritchie, Pipe. G. F. Roach, Archibald and Sellars. Mr. McCarthy wag appointed treasurer, and Mr, J. N. Blake secretary. The chairman, secretary and treasurer were authorised to sign cheques. On the proposal of Mr. T. A. Smith it was decided to hold a Paddy's Market on January 18 1 928. Ry this means it is hoped to raise a good sum ot money to help reduce the debt of £6OO still owing on the hall. In connection with this ft was resolved to hold a meeting in the hall next Monday night when all interested are invited to attend. Accounts amounting to £32 8/3 were passed for payment. Mr Calnan moved a hearty vote of thanks to Mr. G. F. Roach, who had so ably guided the affairs of the Society for the last five years. This was carried by acclamation.
