WOOL CHEQUES
THE RISE IN VALUES. WHAT IT MEANS TO THE GROWERS. Yesterdav the Wellington woolbrokers posted cheques to growers who sold their clips at the sale held in the Town Hall on November 14 (says the “Dominion”). The offering at that- sale was a little more than 9000 bales, and while the averages per bale and per lb have not yet been Calculated, it would probably be within the mark to place the average per bale at £22. At the November sale last year, the average per bale was only £l6 9s 9Jd so if. the estimate given above is anywhere near corect. it illustrates the magnificent gain the rise in wool values means to the growers. The cheques posted yesterdav must have approximated to £195,000. Sheepfarmers in the Manawatu. Wairarapa and Marlborough districts are the recipients, the bulk of the money going to the Wairarapa. On Friday next the Napier wool brokers will be sending out cheques for the wool sold in that centre, and the total of these cheques should approximate to £330.000. On December 6 the Wanganui wool brokers will post wool cheques for approximately £2-15,000, and on December 9 the Auckland wool brokers will be distributing the largest amount for the first sale because of the heavy offering. The Auckland distribution should total over half a million sterling. The next woo] sale is to be held at Christchurch to-morrow. After that the buyers will return to the North Island for sales at Wellington on December 5, and at Napier on December 9. and then they will go south to attend sales at Timaru and Dunedin.
