HASTINGS WATER LOAN.
(To the Editor). Sir, —I trust that the ratepayers of Hastings will do their duty by their town, and vote for this loan on Wednesday next. It is an absolute necessity that this loan should be carried, as our present supply which has not been added to since 1911 falls far short of present day requirements, and there is only one way of paying for a greater supply, and that is by a loan which will distribute the cost over the next twenty-five years; and then the people who live in Hastings each year will pay their just share and no more. It is a well-known fact that in many, communities of our Dominion, they are spending hundreds of thousands of pounds to improve their water supply, but Hastings is so fortunately placed with artesian water, that our engineer says, “Carry this loan of £lO,lOO, and I will give youdouble the supply you have today”—surely no further argument is necessary.—Yours faithfully, M. JOHNSON. Deputy Mayor. Hastings. November 28tn, 1927.
