MANCHESTER UNITY
LOYAL HASTINGS LODGE. HALF-YEARLY MEETING. The half-yearly meeting of the Loyal Hastings Lodge, No. 6299 M.U.0.F., was held on Thursday last, Bro. L. C. Fargher, N.G., presiding. A motion of condolence was passed to the widow and family of the late P.G. Bro. J. T. Wellwood, and also the Bros. A. R,, W. F., and S. J. Wellwood in their double bereavement. Twelve candidates were initiated into the Order, the charges being given by Bros. L. C. Fargher, G. McCormick, R. T. Fargher, and G. D. Love, Sister Keith, and Bros. Cunnold, Priest and Dianes acting as conductors. The quarterly accounts for medical and hospital benefits totalling £266 11/9 were passed for payment. The following officers were elected for the ensuing term:—N.G., Bro. R. T. Fargher; V.G., Bro. Priest, P.G.; E.S., Bro. J. Soppit; treasurer Bro. A. D. Ross; lecture master, P.D.G.M. Bro. G. D. Love; auditor, Bro. Love; pianist, Sister F. M. Cunnold; management committee, Bros. McCormick, Love and Walker; delegates to Medical Association, Bros. T. C. Keith, W. H. Walker, G. D. Love, P. J. Priest, D. T, Gigg, G. McCormick, L. C. Fargher, R. T. Fargher and D. G. Begley; delegates to Hospital Council, Bros. C. G. Cunnold and W. H. Walker; social committee, Sisters Keith, T. and M. Pugh, Ball, Cunnold, Stanley, Plummer and Lee, and Bros. McCormick, Angus, Torbett. Lodge honours were accorded to Bro. Frude, Centenary Lodge, Dunedin, and Bro, Petherick, of Napier Lodge. A letter of recommendation was granted to Bro. H. J. Meyer, residing at Napier. It was resolved that the name ot the retiring I.P.N.G. Bro. G. McCormick, be placed on the merit board and that he be granted a certificate to take the Purple degree and presented with a framed emblem of the order. A vote of thanks was passed to Messrs. Williams and Kettle, Ltd., for placing their supreme Sunbeam car nt the disposal of the committee on the occasion of the Grand Master’s recent visit. Owing to the lengthy order paper the meeting was adjourned until the next regular meeting night. HASTINGS JUVENILE LODGE. The half-yearly meeting of the Hastings Juvenile Oddfellows was held on Friday last. Sister Margaret George (president) in the chair. One new member was initiated into the lodge, the charge being impressively given by Bro. L. A. Holland, past-president. The following officers were elected for the next term:—President, Bro. C. Taylor; vice-president, Sister A. M. Hopcraft; junior secretary, Bro. W. P. Hayes; guardian, Bro. L Drummond; conductor, Sister R. Holland. The first anniversary will be celebrated on Friday, b-.h December, when the installation of officers will take place. The parents of members and the officers of the adult lodge will be invited to the function and the social comriiittee have the arrangements well in hand.
