DEAD HEAT FOR THE PLATE. Auckland, Nov. 26. The Takapuna Jockey Club’s spring meeting was opened to-day. The weather was fine and there was a large attendance. The totalisator handled £57,761. compared with £42,449 on the corresponding day last year. Late results:— Cambria Handicap.—4 Katarena (Gilmer) 1, 7 Catonia (Davis) 2, 1 Patadawji (Green) 3. Also ran: 2 Prodice, 14 Sir Mond, 11 Town Planner and Section (bracketed), 5 Red Lion, 12 Mankin Blue, 3 Volimond, 0 White Wings, 8 Moehau, 6 The Begum, 10 Maruiaena, 15 Mon Star, 7 Lady Mestor. Won by half a length, third a length further back. Time. 1.3 2-5. W. Jones, rider of The Begum, was unseated shortly after the start.
Takapuna Plate.—lB Macroom (Holland) and 3 Ti Tree (Green), dead heat, 1; 13 Royal Doulton (McCormick) 3. Also ran: 11 Abbess, 2 Antrim Boy, 7 Judge’s Box, 6 King Arch, 18 Lady Robinson, 9 Miss I’otua, 5 Modest Boy, 13 Subdivision, 1 Town Bird, 6 Palue, 8 War Officer, 17 Carinthia, 4 King Peg, 20 Storm Field, 14 Whaka King, 16 Yaqui, 15 Taku Tama. Dead heat for first, Royal Doulton a length away third. Time, 1.28. Instead of tossing for the Cup, which formed the trophy, the owners agreed to a sugestion by the president of the club (the Hon. E. W. Allison) that each be given a cup of the value of £4O, Ponue Handicap.—2 Piet (Driscoll) 1, 8 Golden Wedding (Alanson, 2, 14 Cynthia (Treinain) 8. Won by a long head, third horse one and a half lengths away. Time, 1.54 3-5. Borough Handicap.—l In the Shade (T. Green) 1, 7 Awarere (K. Gill) 2, 5 Hipp (.A. Tinker) 3.
