FAREWELL PRESENTATION
TO DEACONESS MABEL HOLMES. Deaconess Mabel Holmes of StMatthew’s parish has been farewelled at some little functions this week, and various sr Presentations have been given prior t her departure for a holiday in England by the Moreton Bay in January. At the meeting of the Missionary Guild on Thursday, Mrs Burr, the president, in a happy little speech, said that everyone present hoped the Deaconess would have a very pleasant holiday, and b» much better for it, and also asked the Deaconess to accept a little present from the members of the Missionary Guild given with their love and affection. Deaconess Holmes then replied, saying that she appreciated all the kindness, but had received so much that she really felt overwhelmed. From the District Nursing Committee —The ladies of the District Nursing Committee met on Thursday morn ing in the Community Club-roOms to farewell Deaconess Holmes. The rooms had been tastefully arranged with bowls of snap dragons and roses by Mrs R. Paynter, and the little party was informal and happy. Mrs Wilson, vice-president apologising for Mrs Maddison’s absence made a short speech of farewe”, and on behalf of the ladies of the d..,-iict nursing committee gave Deaconess Holmes a small gift. The latter then suitably thanked all for their kindness. Mrs Budd sang “Sincerity.” and her playing of “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow” brought the gathering to a close.
