Wireless Sets.— Bernard Wheelei, wireless operator on board the Norfolk, was, in Wellington yesterday, find £25 for failing to make known to the Customs officers that he had several wireless sets in his possession. The Inspector of Customs said the offence was regarded as serious and was brought by the department for the sake of giving publicity. The defendant made the sets himself and the department stated that they did not ask that the sets be forfeited. “Nothing is stronger than custom. - -Ovid.
