DAVIS CUP. UNITED STATES CHALLENGE. New York, Nov. 24. It is announced that the United States will challenge in the American zone for the Dvais Cup? The decision, which must; yet be approved bv the executive committee of the United States Lawn Tennis Association. is based on a desire to make >t unnecessary for the team to sail to Europe in March, which would be essential if the challenge is in the European zone,. The team will thus not sail until June (A. and N.Z.) MARS BUCKLEY CUP. (Received 26, 8.5 a.m.) Melbourne, Nov. 26. Interstate tennis matches for the Mars Buckley Cup commenced in fine weather. The chief features of the day’s play were the following games:— Knlms (N.S.W.) beat Patterson (Vic.). 2- -6. 12-10. 6—l; Crawford (N.S.W.) beat Hawkes (Vic.), 11—9. 4—6. 6—l; O'Hara Wood (Vic.) heat Schlesinger (N.S.W.), 6—3. B—6.
