BISHOP BARNES
QUOTED IN U.S.A. BECAUSE OF RECENT EVENTS. Philadelphia, Oct. 26. The Rt. Rev. Ernest W. Barnes, Bishop of Birmingham, England, who has advocated Darwinism and was in turn denounced in St. Paul's Cathedral, London, by Canon G. R. Bullock-Webster, has been invited to attend the Liberal conference of Episcopal churches to be held here on February 7 a»'d 8. The Rev. Girl R. Grammer, rector of St. Stephex’s Protestant Episcopal Church, mailed the invitation, on behalf of the American Liberals in the National ChuivT League, a week ago, but when Dr Grammer found that Bishop Bartr , had been reproved by the Arehbistidp of Canterbury, in a letter made public last Sunday, he cabled the bishop, “We want you all the more for this episode.”
