HASTINGS BRANCH I ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Hastings branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union was held <>n Thursday in the Methodist Hall. Hastings.. There was a good attendance of members, presided over by Mrs Banks (president). Nine apologies for absence were received. The' annual -report and balancesheet showed a very satisfactory year’s work. Owing to illness of many prominent members and others several of the departments in connection with the union work bad suffered. The reports of the various superintendents were presented. The cradle roll department showed a slight increase in membership Two successful gatherings had been held during the vear. Mrs Collinge, the superintendent was thanked for her kind interest and labour in this branch of the work of the union. The literature superintendent (Mrs Harper) reported fnjthful distribution of leaflets, etc., while a large parcel of magazines and papers had heen collected for distribution to railway employees in camp. Temperance, educative philantrophie and social departments all reported good work and were duly thanked, ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers for 1928 resulted a$ follows President Mrs J. Banks (re-elected); vice-presidents. Mesdames Darby, Thompson, and Paul; secretary, Mrs J. Wilson (reelected); treasurer. Mr s Emmett; evangelistic superintendent. Mrs W Hickmott; cradle roll superintendent, Mrs McArthur; literature superintendent. Mrs Rae; white ribbon agents, Mesdames Paul and Murtagh. The following committees were also elected:—Social, Mesdames Smith. Walker. Murtagh, and Miss McKeown ; visiting and look-out. Meedames Boshier. Darby, and Ross .. Votes of thanks to the retiring officers and to the Hastings Press concluded the meeting. )
