Dad and The Banker; “That’s good, that’s good,” remarked a country girl gleefully as she gripped Dad by the arm at the Opera House on Wednesday morning during the progress of the wool sale (states the Wanganui -“Herald”). “Fancy 17 pence, isn’t it delightful.”. Dad concurred and he wore a beaming smile. Just then his banker came along and shook hands and the pleasant smile soon faded from Dad’s countenance. Doubtless it had occurred to Dad all of a sudden that the 17 pence was not so good after all, as the lion’s share of the won] proceeds were due in another direction.
