WAIPAWA
HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY SEVENTEENTH ANNUAL SHOW. The seventeenth annual Show of the Waipawa Horticultural and Home Industries Society was held on Wednesday. The general standard of exhibitse compared very favourably with other years, and but for the late winds probably would have eclipsed any previous show of the society. In the rose section. Mr S. Bott as at Hastings and Napier, practically swept the boarcr. the champion (Lemon Pillar) and reserve champion (Ethel Somerset) being lovely specimens. Mr W. A. Wilson was equally successful in the sweetpeas section. In the vegetable ection, Mr Jack Avinson was again to the fore with a fine collection. In the evening a fair number of the public attended the show, and bsides other side attractions a wireless concert was put on by ‘Mr N. Mitchell. The judges of the various sections were— Roses and cut flowers, Mr. G. D. Wilson; sweet-peas, Mr J. Miller; fruit and vegetables. Mr P. Peters; children’s work. Dr. Kendall ; home industries, Mrs W.
