COSTLY BLACK EYE
SEQUEL TO A HIDING. TWO BROTHERS FINED. On October 10, Heathcote Clifford Hayward was given a black eye by Harry Lincoln and Bertie Lincoln and the sequel was heard at tho Magistrate’s Court, Hastings, before Air A. M. Mowlem. S.M., yesterday when Hayward (Mr W. Le Helleur) claimed from Lincolns (Mr E. J. Hallett) the sum of £5O for general damages for assault and beating and also for medical attention fees amounting to 10/6. Plaintiff in evidence stated that he had taken the defendant’s sister out on tho Saturday evening and on tho Monday in question thq defendants stopped him and administered the beating. For the defence it was contended that the defendants objected to plaintiff keeping company with tho sister. Bertie Lincoln admitted he did the assault but denied that his brother touched plaintiff. Judgment was given to plaintiff for £l2 10s and costs £6 14s.
