Murderer Executed: At Adelaide. William Henry Francis was executed for the murder of his wife. Not Entitled to Reward: In Aucust last the Full Court granted the reward of £lOOO offered by the West Australian Government to Evan Clarke, who turned King’s evidence at the trial of Coulter and Treffcne for the murder of two detectives at Kalgoorlie last year. The Crown appealed to the High Court, which has now ruled that Clarke was not entitled to the reward on the ground that he was actinv exclusively to clear himself, and not for the sake of justice or from any impulse of conscience.
