CHAMPIONSHIPS ALLOTTED.

Wellington, Nov. 21. The annual meeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athleti Association was held to-night. Mr. R. W. MeVilly congratulated tin meeting on the fact that the assets exceeded the liabilities by £383 12/3 Speaking on the R, A. Rose trust fund, Mr. MeVilly said that on September 30, 1927, there was a balance of £1056 15/1 and that the bulk of that amount had been placed with the Public Trustee on deposit for five years at 5| per cent, per annum, the interest rate being reducible to 5 per cent, per annum in the event of the investment being broken before the due date, an exceedinglj satisfactory arrangement. The following resolution was passed:—That the standards for the 880 yards cycle (banked track), one mile cycle (grass and banked tracks), and three miles cycle (grass and banked tracks) be altered from 6<i secs., 2mins. 30secs., 2mins. 15secs.. Rmins. and 7mins. respectively to 59secs., 2mins. 15secs.. 2mins. 2secs., 7mins. 30secs., and 6mins. 40secs. respectively.

Messrs. R. W. MeVilly and L. A. Tracy were appointed to represent the association on the athletic board of control. The 1928-29 track and field championships were allotted to the Wellington centre. The New Zealand cross-country championships were allotted to the Wanganui-Taranaki centre.

Officers were elected as follows:— Patron, Sir Charles Fergusson; president, Mr. R. W, MeVilly; vicepresidents, Messrs. G. H. Lusk and H. I Ansted; delegates to Olympia Council, Messrs. G. H. Lusk and A. W O. Travers; hon .auditor, Mr. R. W, Shallcrass; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr. L. A. Tracy; administration committee. Messrs. R. W. MeVilly, H. W. Franklin, and R. Connop; reinstatement committee* Messrs. W. Hugo, E. G. Guy, and H. I. Ansted: overseas representation, England. Dr, rH. E. Porritt; South Africa. Mr. Ira G. Emery; U.S.A., Messrs. C. G. Krogness, senior and junior.
