POWERS OF MAORI LAND

Wellington, Nov. 22. Numerous matters relating to native lands are dealt with in tirn Native “Washing-Up” Bil] introduord into the House of Representatives last night. The Maori Land Board will bo entitled to charge 5 per cent, commission on all rents and other moneys dejxisited with or collected and distributed by it. Where several ureas of native land are vested in th»' Maori Land Board JXiwer is given that they may be formed and dealt with conjointly. Maori Land Boards are authorised to acquire land tor natives. No person tending money to a Maori Land Hoa d or to a body corporate shall be concerned as to the necessity for Or fho application of loan, hut provision is contained for the protection of mortgages.
