OBITUARY.
MRS MARY WELLWOOD.
The news of the death of Mrs Mary Wellwood, relict of the late Mr Arthur Wellwood, will be learned in Hastings and through the district with sincere regret. The deceased, who was 78, years of age, had been in failing 'health for some time, so that the end was not unexpected when she expired last evening at her residence. Southland road. The death of her son. Mr James J. Wellwood, which occurred only two days previously, makes the circumstances particularly sad, and general sympathy will be expresseq with the family in their double loss of a devoted mother and a loved brother
Mrs Wellwood was the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Janies Thompson of Kilnianagh, County Kilkenny, Ireland, in which town she was born. She was married in Kilnianagh. and she and her husband came to New Zealand in 1883. taking up thenresidence in Hastings. Her husband. Mr Arthur Wellwood, died in 1916.
The deceased leaves a grown-up family of four sons —Messrs Joseph, Robert, and William Wellwood, of Hastings, and Otway Wellwood, of Christchurch—and three daughters —Misses Annie, Susan, and Polly Wellwood, of Hastings—with whom the deepest sympathy is expressed. The funeral will leave St.' Matthew’s Church for the Hastings cemetery to-morrow (Wednesday), at 2 p.m.
