The indisposition of His Excellency Sir Charles Eergusson will prevent him from attending the annual communication of the Masonic Grand Lodge, to be held at Christchurch on the 30th. at which he was to have been reinstalled as Grand Master. The Pro. Grand Master, Mr. George Russell, will preside in his stead. Sir Charles Eergusson will be installed at a special gathering m one of *tie centres as soon as the circumstances permit.
The Rev. A. E. Hunt and Mrs Hunt, of Takapau, are spending at present a short holiday in Wellington.
Mrs L M A imery, speaking to an Auckland “Sun’’ representative yesterday. said she was also looking for ward to her two days’ stay at the Hawke's Bay home of Sir Andrew and Lady Russell, which would provide an opportunity of viewing the country. Mr. Amery and Sir Andrew Russell first met at Gallipoli.
The Primate of Australia and Arch, bishop of Sydney (Dr. J. C. Wright) arrived from England, via America, by the Makura yesterday, accompanied by his wife, daughter (Mist I, J’ Wright), and son (Mr. J. F. Wright). His Grace and party are remaining in New Zealand until Do cember 10. the intention being to visit Mrs Greville Warren, of Hawke's Bay, who is a daughter of the visiting prelate.
Mr, Percy Ash, of the faculty of the Sydney University, is a through passenger from San Francisco to Sydney by the Makura. Mr. Ash has been attending the centenary of the University of Toronto, Canada, a function which was attended by 250 delegates from all parts of the world, nnd which made the procession to the Hall of Convocation one of the most remarkable in the university history of Canada

The funeral of Mr. James T. Wellwood took place yesterday afternoon, when, after a short service in St. Matthew’s Church, conducted by the Rev. John Hobbs, the wreath-covered coffin was conveyed to the Hastings cemetery, followed by a long line of motor-cars. At the graveside the Rev Hobbs conducted the service of the Church of England in the presence of a large and representative gathering of citizens. After the interment a profusion of flowers were laid on the mound as tributes fo the memory of the deceased gentleman
