PANAMA CANAL ZONE
FOREIGN AIR BASES OBJECTED TO.
(Received 21, 9.30 a.m.) Washington, November 19
It is understood that the United States will resist attempts by foreign commercial aviation services to establish bases in the Panama Canal zone and Panama itself, and will reject a request of the Colombian Aero Maritime Company for such privileges. The company is financed by German and Colombian capital, and the employees. equipment, and aviators are of similar nationalities.
Panama despatches state that Panamanians desire a base, and noiut out that the American attitude is one of objection only, while apparently no efforts are being made by American interests to establish a commercial air service there.
