IN BANKRUPTCY
ESTATE OF HUTA RAWIRI. A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of Huta Rawiri, labourer, of Bridge Pah, was called in Hastings yesterday afternoon, Mr. G. G Chisholm being present. No creditors were in attendance. The statement of affairs showed a deficiency of £355 13/11, owing to unsecured creditors. The assets were ml. PERSONAL STATEMENT. Following is the bankrupt’s personal statement: —“I attribute my position to the fact that last year I purchased a car, with a view to taxi work. This venture was not success ful and I fell heavily into debt, through repairs to th© car and, not being able to meet the instalment payments, the car was taken from me. I am a married rnan with two small children. My main occupation is shearing. During the past winter I have done little work. I hava worked last winter only a few weeks, off and on doing casual labouring, my weekly wage averaging not more than £2 10/-, which was barely sufficient to support myself and my family. J also contribute to the support of both my mother and mother-in-law. The wages earned by me during the last shearing season went almost wholly to pay off back debts and towards the payment of heavy instalments on judgment summons orders made against me. I
have found it impossible to keep up certain of these payments and, as one of my creditors issued a warrant of committal against me, which I was unable to satisfy, I was forced to lodge a petition in bankruptcy.”
Mr. E. J. V’. Hallett appeared for the bankrupt. The Official Assignee examined the Bankrupt and the meeting lapsed i°r want of a quorum.
