ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

The body of the man found shot at th 0 top of the Zig Zag, Lyttelton, on Thursday night, was identified yesterday as that of Donald Harrison Brown, grocer’s assistano, of 290 Madras street, Christchurch. At an inquest, Gladys Emily Brown, wife of deceased, gave evidence that her husband had been unemployed and appared to be depressed and worried. A verdict was returned that Brown had committed suicide by shooting himself. Rosina Williams, a widow aged <l6 was found yesterday afternoon lying dead in the flower garden ut her home in Christchurch. She had been cutting the edges of the lawn with shears when she had a heart attack. No inquest will be held. Albert Martin a dairy farmer, residin’ at North-E'ast Valley, Dunedin, died suddenly in a spring cart in Cumberland street at 10.30 on Thursday morning. H a was 08 years of age. An accident occured on the IVaipa Colliery Company railway line in the Waikato. Four men engaged on .Jie maintenance of the line were travelling down from Glenmassey on two trolleys, and the rear trolley, when on a viaduct, ran into the front one, both being thrown off the line. Two men, T. Herbert and J. Hill, fell 40 feet to the ground below. One trolley which fell off the viaduct narrowly missed them as they lay on the ground. Herbert had his left leg badly fractured, his jaw also fractured and’ he is suffering from concussion. Hill sustained a dislocated ankle. W. E. McCarthy, a Well known Wanganui draper, was found dead in the upstairs portion of his shop this morning with an overcoat over his head.
