FUNDS FOR THE SCOUTS A “SHOP” TO BE HELD. The mothers of the Havelock North Scouts met yesterday aiternoon when it was resolved to hold a Scout “shop” in aid of headquarter fundi on Saturday. December 3. The arrangements of the various stalls are well in hand. Mrs J- H. Joll kindly acting as organiser. It is proposed to ask permission to hold the “shop” at the Rest House in the centre of the village. 'The Scouts are canvassing the district for old books gramophone records, jumble and produce. SCHOOL SPORTS. The Havelock School sports were held in the Domain to-day. The children’s events took place in the morning and were wail contested. The aiternoon was devoted to tue adults’ racing, for which substantial prizes were offered. In addition to the athletic programme there was sheep weight-guessing, sheaf tossing, K putting the shot, tilting of bicycles, y chain stepping, and various other competitions. The officials controlling the sports were Messrs J. D. Heenan (chairman), E. Nielson (hon. secretary), H Speight (hon. treasurer), H. Lyall (headmaster), D M S. Millar, J. Minogue. A Toop F. W, Berry, R. Chanman-TsyKF ’ R. Rutherford, E. F. Leicester and J. Duncan.
The grounds were in very good order after rain, and a very pleasant day was passed by al] present. *«.•••
