THE MAORI RACE

(To the Editor). Sir, —Having read your cable news in Wednesday's issue “Maoris and Pakehas” in which Mr. J. A. Thomson, of West Australia, speaks many untruths about the Maori race, 1 searched your paper last evening for some word in defence of our Maori race, Where is our Rev. F. A. Bennet and his Young Maori Party? Many of us would like a'word from him. Perhaps a challenge from Ike Robin to Mr. Thomson, would if accepted be a fair way of settling his argument. Mr. Thomson with is flying visit puts oqe in mind of Foster Fraser’s book “Australia ,at Work.” He saw Australia from the train on a flying visit. Wake up you Maoris. Mr. Thomson is the only Australian who would compare you with the aborigine. Yours, etc., AUSSIE. Hastings. 18/11/27.
