AWARDS IN GARDEN DISPLAYS.
SHOW OPENS’TO-MORROW.’
The entries in the garden classes of the Hastings Horticultural So ciety’s Show exceeded those of last year by four exhibits. The gardens were all exceptionally good and the judge had difficulty rn making the award, as there were' only seven points between the first and the fourth gardens: Mr. Britten acted as judge. Following are the awards:— Garden up to half acre, no restrictions as to labour.—Miss Doris Cameron. Havelock North. 1; Mr. E. E. Rixon, Victoria street. 2: Mrs E. Moore Davis street, 3; Mr. J. R. Esson, Townshend street. 4. neven entries. Amateur garden up to half acre, kept by occupier or his family, no outside labour.—Miss Doris Cameron, 92pts., 1: Mr. E. E. Rixon. 90pts., 2; Mrs E. Moore. 89pts.. 3: Mr. J. R. Esson, 85pts.. 4. Ten entries. Garden over haff acre, no labour restrictions.—Mrs W. B. Nicol], York street. 1; Miss D. Cameron 2: Mr. S M. Desmond. Whitehead road, 3; Mr. A. I. Rainbow, 4: Four entries. Best lawn.—Mr. W. J Campbell, Victoria street, 1, Best vegetable garden.—Mr. I. Crichton. Duchess Crescent. 1. CUPS. Miss Elsie Williams’ Cup, best amateur gardens.—Miss D, Cameron, Havelock North. Mr J, L. Edson's Cup most artistic garden.—Mrs E. Moore, Hastings. The show opens to-morrow afternoon and wil] be continued in the evening. There is a splendid assemblage of roses and other flowers, presenting a brilliant mass of colour, which will delight flower lovers and indeed everyone who can appreciate a beautiful picture.
