FOREIGN-OWNED SHIPS. RECEIVE LION’S SHARE. (Received 17, 10.10 a.m.) Washington, Nov. 16. The United States Shipping Board announced that American vessels carried less-than one third of the American foreign trade during 1926. A survey showed that 5761 ships aggregating 26,330,000 tons, handled the nation’s foreign trade, of which I<>7B ships, totalling 7.336,000 tons, were American owned. The United States Shipping Bill for 1926 amounted to more than 728,000,000 dollars. Foreign shippers received over 480,000,000 for carrying United States trade. —(A. and JI.Z.)
