MR. ARMOUR’S DEPARTURE RESIGNATION BEFORE BOARD ACCEPTED WITH REGRET. Mr. W. A. Armour, M.A., who has been appointed to the headmastership of Wellington College, tendered his resignation to the Board of Governors of the Napier High Schools yesterday. On behalf cf the board ,the chairman (Mr. P. Ashcroft) congratulated Mr. Armour on his appointment. During their 12 years stay in Napier, both Mr. and Mrs. Armour, he said, had endeared themselves to the school and its associations, and their positions would be hind to till. Mr. Ashcroft then moved that Mr. Armour be congratulated and that his resignation be accepted with regret. Members of the board , and the secretary, Mr. W. L. Dunn, endorsed the remarks of the chairman, and the motion was carried Mr. Armour, in reply, said that he deferred putting in his apjplicatoin for the Wellington until the last possible moment and with a feeling that he would not be successful. The position was one of such importance in the educational world that at first he could not see his way clear to make all application for it and when word came of his apnointment it was received with mixed feelings. Both he and Mrs Armour had always considered the board as friend but on occasions such as this one had to consider one’s position. He had always been jtreated most liberally and desired to express bis appreciation on behalf of Mrs Armour and himself for the kindly expressions of all.
