HASTINGS YOUNG MAN’S SUCCESS.
APPEARANCE IN “TWELFTH NIGHT.”
Mr John . Cameron, who acted the character of Orsino with such distinction in Mr Allan Wilkie’s production of “Twelfth Night” in Hastings last evening, is a son of Mr and Mrs John Cameron, Southland road, Hastings. He was educated at the Central School, and took part in the activities of the Hastings Operatic Society assuming the role of Hubert in “The Girl in the Taxi.” That was in 1920. and he left soon afterwards for Australia, where he joined the Melbourne Repertory Society. When Mr Wilkie was reorganising his company in Melbourne about eight months ago he engaged Mr Cameron, who then entered on his professional experience. General comment was made last night on Mr Cameron’s flair for the stage, on iiis striking presence, his easy, clear enunciation, and the understanding that he put into his work, and his many friends in Hastings wish nim every success in his chosen career.
