PARKE ISLAND HOME

VISIT OF ENTERTAINMENT COMMITTEE.

ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON

The members of the entertainment committee and friends paid the monthly visit to the Parke Island Home on Saturday. The occasion was the last of the series of concerts for the present year. The afternoon was refreshingly cool. With the party were three highly-trained dancers so that the programme was ‘varied and very enjoyable. Mrs. Carter sang “Thinking of You,” and ■'Salaam,” and Mi's. Bisson rendered “Cornin' Thro’ the Rye,” and “Friend of Mine.” Mrs. Hay-Chap-man and Miss Langley also contributed. Little Miss Bobby Bald danced the highland Fling, Pauline Munroe the Sailors’ Hornpipe and Anny Moody an Irish jig. Then all three danced the Sean Trubhias in costume. Piper R. Maclver rendered tiie bagpipe accompaniments. In returning thanks on behalf of the Parke Island Committee, Mr. J. B. Andrew said he was sorry to learn that Mrs. R. Thayer was relinquishing the good work she had been carrying out for the old foils for close upon 19 years, on account of failing health. In conjunction with Mrs. Langley and others Mrs. Thayer had been one of the first to interest herstli in the welfare of the inmates of the home.

Mr. R. Hay-Chapman had a word to say for, his charges and he, too, referred in complimentary terms to Mrs. Thayer’s good work. The matron had quite a busy time with the afternoon tea arrangements.
