WEDDING.

AVERILL—CANNING.

A quiet and very pretty wedding was held this afternoon at St. John’s Cathedral, Napier, when Miss Gwynch Aiexdra Canning, daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. Charles Canning, of 42 Carnell street, Napier, was married to Mr. Morris Riddick Averill, youngest son of Mr E. Averill, Kereru, Hawke’s Bay. The Very Rev. Dean Mayne official'* 1 . The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. Stratford Canning, looked charming in a shell pink georgette frock, embroidered in silver, to match her silver shoes, a pale pink tulle veil beautifully embroidered, and a pearl necklet. She carried a dainty posy to tone with her frock. The bride was attended bv three bridesmaids—Miss Nancy Fannin, of Hastings (chief) and Misses Marjorie and Dorothy Logan( of Kereru. All were dressed alike in charming Victorian frocks of blue-green taffetas shot with silver. The bouffant skirts were trimmed with scrolled niching, and silver bandeaux were also worn. Effective little 1814 posies of pink cream, and mauve were carried.

Mr. Anthony Mayne carried out the duties of best man. and the groomsman was the brother of the bride, Mr. George Canning. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Dinwiddie, of Cobden road. The rooms were beautifully decorated with roses and sweet peas. After the happy couple had received 1 the congratulations of their friends, they lelt by motor for the south. The bride was wearing an attractive jumper suit of saxe-blue chenille ,with a tailored coat to match.

The bride’s mother, Mrs. Canning, was wearing a figured silk frock trimmed with cyclamen, and a black hat. Mrs. Averill, mother of the bridegroom, was in black and beige maroeain, and a black hat.

Turnbull, of Kereru, Mr and tylrs M. Turnbull, Mr and Mrs Nelson/ Smith, of Olrig, Mrs and Miss Besant, Mr Dayis Canning (Oakbourne), Miss Canning and Miss Betty Canning, Mr and Mrs Peter Canning. Miss Aira Ormond, Mr and Mrs Harry Fannin (Hastings), Miss Rosemary Fannin, Mr and Mrs Rochfort Averill, Mr ond Mrs Cecil Averill, Miss Elsa Loudoun, Misses Leithead, Miss Betty Moffat, Mr Bernard Canning, Mr and Mrs and Miss Coleman. Mr and Mrs Geoffrey Mason (Havelock N.), Mr Rodney Arber, and others.
