Oil-boring Operations. — Taranaki oilfields report that .boring operations are continuing steadily at the two wells in the Gisborne district, and arrangements are now being made for opening a new well at Mangaono Valley.

Fatal Fire.— Mary Anne Murphy, aged 72 years, died in the Christ-; church Hospital on Friday night like days after her admission when eno was suffering -from severe burns on the face and hands, the ,result o a fire at her home. Her husband Patrick Murphy, and son, Leo Murphy, wcr c also Beverly burned. At - the inquest on Saturday, Sergeant H. Hodgkin's said there was no evidence as te how the fire started, but it had originated in the room where deceased and the others were sitting. There was n<r fire in the grate. The inquest was adjourned.
