“TWELFTH NIGHT”
THE ALLAN WILKIE VISIT.
The comedy of "Twelfth Night” which Mr Wilkie will present at the Municipal Theatre, to-morrow night, has always been a favourite with playgoers. Both Sir Henry Irving and Sir Herbert Tre e made great productions of it, and it is interesting to note that Mr Wilkie himself was a member of Tree’s cast at His Majesty’s Theatre, London, Another fine production of this |ffiy -was by Mr Granville Barker, sume two or three years prior to 1914, but in the last mentioned staging a great deal of the wonderful colour was robbed of the play by the effort at the fash- • ion for realism which has been prevalent on the English stag e fqr some years past. Sir Herbert Tree knew better than to do this, and with his fantastic make-up, the colourful delineations of such a comedian ns Lionel Brough in Sir Toby Belch, and ethers of his cast, the pulsating jollity of the glorious comedy was in no wise lost. Mr Allan Wilkie’s pro duction is a happy successor to Tree’s Box plans are at Fail’s.
