DISTRICT NURSING
HASTINGS ASSOCIATION. MONTHLY~MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Association was held on Thursday last, Mrs. J. Wilson being in the chair. Mesdames Nairn, Lovell-Smith Paynter, Ebbett, Glenny, Chapman, Bochier, Hayward, Beach, Jones, Grainger, Hickmott, Miss Ford, Mr. T. Donovan, Mrs. J, B. Pickering (hon. secretary) were also present. Apologies were received from His Worship the Mayor 1 (Mr. G. H. Maddison), the president (Mrs. G. A. Maddison), Mesdames Nicoll, Banks, Waterworth, Deaconess Holmes, and Mr. G. McKay. The nurse’s report read as follows:—Visits to homes 189, treatments at office 114; miscellaneous calls 21.
The treasurer (Mr. W. B. Hobbs) submitted his report, stating that subscriptions had been received from Mesdames H. M. Campbell, Satchell, Fox-Rogers, R. Wellwood, E. R. Herrick, S. E. Jones, D. Ross, Holt & Sons, Murley & Son, Messrs H. Paynter, T. Donovan and Dr. Johnston. Eulogistic reference was made to Nurse Cassin’s splendid work during the year, and the secretary was instructed to convey to her the committee’s appreciation of her services as district nurse.
During the month the relief committee had organised a Thrift Club. Mrs. Paynter (convenor) gave a very encouraging report of the club’s work, its object being to encourage thrift among its members.
It was resolved that a letter of thanks be sent to Mr. K. S. Chamberlain for his generous gifts of food supplies.
A vote of thanks was accorded those who had assisted the work of the Association by their annual subscriptions during the month.
