The death took place in the Napier Hospital yesterday of Mr. Frederick Richard Wood, at the age of 68. The late Mr. Wood came from England to New Zealand on the sailing ship. Taranaki in 1879 and the following year signed on with Mr. Nelson at the Tomoana Freezing Works, being one of the first hands employed there. For some time past Mr. Wood had been in indifferent health and a week ago was compelled to enter the hospital where his death occurred. Mr s Elwood, of Napier, and Mrs Nelson, of. Waipukurau. are sisters of the deceased, and Mr. Wood, of I’almerston North, a brother. To them will go out much sympathy in their bereavement. The funeral took place this afternoon at 3.30.
