The U.S. Navy Department decided yesterday to re-inforce the Marine Expeditionary Force in Nicaragua so that 1,600 men will be on duty there. The Cunard liner Franconia arrived at Auckland from New York to-day, with 400 American tourists. She leaves for Wellington on Monday.— (Press Association.) The City and Suburban Highways Board to-day resolved to draft a by-law increasing the speed limit on the Hutt road from 30 to 35 miles an hour; also the speed limits of 15 miles at Kaiwarra and Ngafiauranga to 20 miles an hour,— Press Assn.
