"ELIZA COMES TO STAY.”

A BRILLIANT LONDON COMEDY. “Eliza Comes to Stay,” to be presented next Monday by the new English Comedy Company is full of subtle satire, and clever dialogue. After a week the bachelor can “stick it” no longer, and flees to Paris. Eliza then undergoes a decided change for the better, and when her guardian returns from abroad, be decides that the best thing to do is to marry Eliza, who now calls herself Dorothy. Miss Zillah Bateman is at her best as Eliza, and reveals rare artistry in her change to the beautiful and charm ing Dorothy. Mr Copelin is perfect as “Sandy,” the carefree bachelor, who surrenders completely to the charms of his beautiful ward. Miss Henrietta Cavendffih takes the part ot “Lady Penny broke, ” and Miss Sylvia Clifton is well suited aS the designing actress. The company has had a most successful tour ot New Zea land and is now commencing return visits in all the principal towns. Hastings was unavoidedly missed on their last tour of Hawke’s Bay. But on this occasion has been included in the itinerary. Equally enjoyable will be the presentation of the sparkling comedy on Tuesday next, The Unfair Sex” which has been quite as successful as “Eliza Comes to Stay.
