TAURANGA.

(FROM OUR CORRESPOHDENT.) (by electric telegraph.) 28th October. A grand and imposing ceremony took place here on the occasion of laying the first pile of the Good Templars' Hall on Saturday. A procession of one hundred members of the Lodge, mostly dressed in regalia, was formed near the Roman Catholic Church, and marched to the site of the proposed building, which is wellselected, commanding a view of the town and harbor. The Rev. Mr Jordan, the incumbent, and also Lodge Deputy, took charge of the ceremonies. The pile was laid by Mrs Salt. About 300 people were present, including members of the principal families in the district.
