The Legislative Council have rejected the Bill to increase the salaries of the clerks of the Assembly beyond those o f the Council. The second reading of the Local Courts Bill has been carried. The Bill extends the jurisdiction of Courts to actions involving sums to the amount of £SOO, and embodies other features of Supreme Court law administration. John Wright Anderson, clerk in the National Bank, has pleaded guilty to embezzling £IOO, the property of the Bank. Sentence has been deferred. j
