A Singapore telegram, dated 28th August, states that a rupture is threatened between China and Japan, on account of the Formosa expedition to China. They are making immense preparations for war. A " contact" being discovered at the Grahamstown telegraph office one Sunday morning recently, a lineman was despatched to sseertain the cause. On arriving at Parawai, 'ho found the cause of the mischief to be a gqose, which in flying down a hill-side had been caught between two wires, and was strangled in its attempt to escape ,
