For Wairoa—Fairy, this evening For Poverty Bay—Rangatira, to-day For Wellington—Halcione, to-morrow For Auckland—Pretty Jane (via Poverty Bay) early The schooner Atlantic, Capt. Spooner, arrived from Mercury Bay early on Friday morning, with a cargo of timber. The Southern Cross, Capt. F. Holmes, arrived from Auckland on Friday morning, with a general cargo and a large number of passengers. She steamed for Auckland at 6 p.m. on Saturday, with 60 head cattle, and 260 sheep. The S.S. Fairy arrived from Wairoa on Saturday at noon with several passengers. She will steam for Wairoa again this evening. The s.s. Rangatira left Wellington for Napier at 8 o'clock yesterday morning, with the Hawke's Bay portion of the English Mail via Suez. The Star of the South steamed for Auckland early on Friday morning, and arrived at Auckland at 5 a.m. yesterday. The ship Halcione is expected to leave for Wellington to-morrow. The Pretty Jane may be expected to arrive from Poverty Bay and Auckland today, and will return to the same ports shortly after arrival. The Ship OtagO, 85 days from London, arrived at Port Chalmers on Friday night, with 364 immigrants, all well. The barque Columbus, 87 days from London, with 10 passengers, arrived at Port Chalmers on Saturday. The Cathcart and the St. Laurence, with 750 immigrants, arrived at Lyttelton on Saturday. The ship Euterpe, 124 days from London, arrived at Wellington yesterday, with 410 immigrants, all well. The ship Queen Bee, Captain T. L« Birch, left London on the 21st June, for Napier and Poverty Bay, with the following passengers :—Henry Bough, William Bough, William Barton, Price, Jones, and Mr Coleman. She is now 71 days out. The Travels of a Bottle.—On the 19th Jane a bottle was picked up on the beach, near Mount Cameron, on the West Coast of Tasmania, where it had been left, apparently) by the receding tide. The bottle contained a paper on which the following was written : --" Sunday, March 15, 1874. 11. M. s. Challenger. All's well, 200 miles off Cape Otway, Australia, after various perils amongst icebergs, down south. Scientific staff all safe.—(Signed) Joseph Tubbs."
