WELLINGTON. 22nd May. Markets.—Wholesale quotations : Flour, £l3 9/ to £l4 ; wheat, 6/; oats, 5/3 ; brau, 1/11; potatoes, £5; maize, 6/6 ; bacon aud hams, -/10 to 1/2 ; cheese, -/8. CANTEEBUEY. ; 22nd May. Markets.—The wheat market is firmer, owning to recent advices from Melbourne, but a material rise was checked by the dull state of the English market. Farmers are gettiug from 4/6 to 4/8 ; millers giving the latter price. Prime sample of flour, £l2 to £l3; sharps, £6 10/ f ton; bran and oatmeal remain the same as last week; barley is not so firm, maltsters having stocked for a time ; quotations, 4/9 to 5/. .Butter scarce -J 11,J to 1/J-; cheese is in good demand at -/G; bacon sud hams, .-/8 J in Christchurch. • Potatoes are in brisk demand ; the crop is not turning out equal to expectations,. and I here are short deliveries in consequence; they may be quoted at from £3 5/ per ton delivered in Christchurch. LONDON. 22nd April. A prospectus has been issued in London containing proposals for the formation of a company to take over Hall's Australian steamship line. The proposed capital is £600,000, in 30,000 shares of £2O each. The seven promoters take one share each, and four of them, including Mr Hall, stipulate for £I,OOO a-year. The amount of bullion withdrawn from the Bank.of England on balance-day was £114,000, and the amount of bullion gone into the bank is £20,000. The report of the Eastern Extension Australian and China Telegraph Company,, shows that the year'sjprofits are £156,975. A dividend equal to g\ per cent, has been declared, and £39,950 carried to the reserve fund/
