SONNET.
The glow of Spring is waning on my cheek, And I, down Youth's calm river, in a boat, To the broad ocean swiftly seem to float, Away from fav'ring haven and shelt'ring creek.. O may I now, ere azure skies grow dark, Shim seas (Jharybdian and treach'rous sands, • And hold, o'er the expanse, with steady hands, For golden shores, my frail and erring bark ! So, gliding ©nward far as eye can see, Faith my sole compass, Love my ouly sheet, Blown by Hope's winds from the receding straud Shall I, long ere the voyage done, may be, Hear echoing voices longing mine to greet, And catch some glimpses of the PromisedLand. —Family Herald.
