Opotiki, schooner, for Poverty Bay, to-day Clematis, ketch, for Auckland, to-day Murray, s.s., for Wellington, to-day Queen of the North, barque, for London) early The p. a. Manawatu, Captain J. Griffiths, arrived from Poverty Bay early on Wednesday morning, and steamed for Wellington at 4.30 the same afternoon. On her arrival at Gisborne she was unable to land her cargo in consequence of a heavy sea running. The topsail-schooner Success, Capt. W. M'Donald, left Auckland on Friday, the 30th January, had light N. and N.W. weather to the East Cape, which was rounded at 5 p.m. on Sunday, from there heavy N.E. wind was experienced until off Poverty Bay at 4 a.m. on Monday, when it suddenly shifted to the southward, blowing a gale. Hove-to for two hours under bare poles ; and, at the end of that time, set balance-reefed mainsail, to keep ship to the wind. At 2 p.m., wind still continuing, ran for Tologa Bay. Lay there until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, when the wind coming light from the N.E. got under weigh, and arrived here at 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Cargo: 33.000 feet timber, and 100 sacks grass seed. The S.S. Murray, Captain A. Palmer, left Auckland at 3.30 p.m. on Tuesday, and was expected to arrive last night or early this morning. She will meet with prompt dispatch for Wellington. The schooners Saucy Lass and Lsetitia, from Tairoa, may shortly be expected to arrive here, with cargoes of timber for Mr LeQuesne. The ketch Clematis and the schooner Opotiki will both leave port this morning, the former for Auckland via the coast, and the latter for Poverty Bay. The S.S. Fairy, Capt- J- Campbell, steamed for Wairoa on Tuesday evening, with a full cargo and several passengers.
