Pontius Pilate in White Kids.*-The native 'Christians in Southern India hare been solemnising Lent by miracle plays. Nicodemus, Judas Iscariot, and St. Peter formed ■as usual, conspicuous personage in the drama; and a very truculent Pontius Pilate in white kid gloves. The Tanjore representations were further remarkable from the fact that the Eoman pro-consul firmly maintained his ■dignity by keeping on his gloves even while washiughis hands. : The chief of police in Pittsfield lately received a telegram requesting him to look out for a runaway having a black moustache 1 5 feet 10 inches in height with a velvet coat, ,
