A new kind of gum has been shown lit a meeting of the OUontological Society ; it is of a dark amber color; and in character is something like gutta-percha. When heated, it can with great ease be moulded into any required form, and on cooling, becomes tough and strong, with thb further advantage that it does not twist or warpj or decompose on exposure to the weather. Another point in its favor is, that when pare, it resists'traction of hydrochloric acid; From thew particulars, it would appear that gutta-percha is likely to be superseded by thic new gum for purposes of dentistry, M. Drouin, a young painter of promise, aged 28, has met with his death in Paris, under melancholy circumstauces.
